The world's oldest restaurant

The oldest restaurant in the world can be found in Madrid, more specifically in Cuchilleros Street, only 10 minutes away from Gran View Apartments. The Sobrino de Botín restaurant was founded in 1725, and after almost 300 years, it still serves traditional dishes, such as the famous cocido madrileño. If you come to Madrid, don't miss it!

An abandoned Metro station

Do you like mysteries and spooky places? Well, you can find something of the kind in Madrid. Rather than a spooky Metro station, it is now a museum. This is the old Chamberí Metro Station, now known as "Platform 0 of Chamberí" ("Andén 0 de Chamberí"). Admission is free and it feels like travelling back in time to Madrid in the 1950s. It takes a 20-minute walk from Gran View Apartments.

At number 61 Calle Mayor, you will not only find what is possibly the narrowest house in the city, but you will also be standing before the home of one of the most famous Spanish authors: Pedro Calderón de la Barca. Berlin Park contains a piece of the historic Berlin Wall that divided the city for 28 years and which, after being destroyed, was distributed around the world, including the Spanish capital. An Arab wall

Another way of travelling without leaving Madrid and of being whisked back in time, in this case to the Al-Andalus period, is to visit the 9th century Moorish wall located at Cuesta de la Vega.
