Unique Viewpoints in Madrid for Photography Lovers

March 04, 2026

Madrid from above offers an unparalleled image that blends history, architecture, and striking urban landscapes. In this article, you’ll discover the city’s most unique viewpoints, where you can capture Madrid from every angle—whether in bright daylight or during the magical sunsets that paint the rooftops of the capital in shades of orange and pink.

Faro de la Moncloa
The highest viewpoint in Madrid, located 92 meters above ground, is just 20 minutes away by public transport from our apartments. Although its futuristic façade was originally designed as a communications tower, today it also offers stunning panoramic views of the city, from the urban center to the Madrid mountains. Tickets can be purchased online. A view you simply can’t miss!

Dome of La Almudena Cathedral
One of Madrid’s most surprising—yet lesser-known—viewpoints is hidden inside the dome of La Almudena Cathedral. Admission to the museum includes access to the dome, where you can admire the Royal Palace, Plaza de Oriente, the Segovia Viaduct, and the iconic Edificio España. The cathedral is just a 15-minute walk from Gran View Apartments and offers a unique opportunity to connect with the essence of the city.

San Francisco Gardens
The San Francisco Gardens, also known as “La Dalieda” due to their beautiful dahlias, are a green oasis at the end of Gran Vía, just 15 minutes by public transport from the center. Entry is free, and hidden among the colorful flowers is one of the best panoramic views of southwest Madrid—an idyllic spot to enjoy the sunset over the city.

Palacio de Cibeles
Madrid City Hall is home to a 360º viewpoint on its eighth floor, offering unique views of the city center, including Retiro Park and Paseo del Prado. Inside, you’ll find maps that help you interpret the city’s layout. Visits can be booked online, and it’s only 15 minutes by public transport from our apartments.

Parque del Tío Pío
Located a bit farther from the center—around 40 minutes by public transport—this viewpoint offers a completely different perspective of Madrid. From here, you can see the Vallecas neighborhood and the city skyline. It’s one of Madrid’s best natural viewpoints: the perfect place to watch the sunset and see the first stars appear over the city.

Temple of Debod
On the Príncipe Pío hill, just a 15-minute walk from the apartments, stands the Temple of Debod—an ancient Egyptian monument perched on top of the hill. From here, you can admire Casa de Campo, the Royal Palace, and La Almudena Cathedral. Sunsets behind the temple are truly unforgettable—a must-do plan for spectacular photos and an even more magical moment in Madrid.

Madrid’s views are an essential experience, and at Gran View Apartments you can enjoy them from our rooftop terrace with pool during the warmer months, while staying in our fully equipped apartments. Don’t wait any longer—book your stay now!
